Summer Studies at Parsons

The summer study program is an excellent learning experience for those who are interested in studying interior architecture in NYC for the summer. I’ve taught at this particular program at Parsons for three years and it has been a wonderful experience with all of the students. Many students come from different countries and some local that have a wonderful exchange of culture while taking the summer intensive course. The course is three fold offering three classes full time for a 4 week period to fully be submerged in everything design within the city. There is a design studio component, all forms of drawing to communicate representation, and a NYC walking tour to see real life examples and experience NYC design. For more information and to register follow the link here.

Get familiar with the Pantone spring 2013 colors that will be everywhere this season found here. Just because these are the upcoming trend, only use the ones that work with your coloring or interiors.

Luxurious Kimono

Check out this beautifully handmade kimono by Upstate made from 100% silk that’s hand dyed using a japanese technique called the shibori method. It’s hard to find natural materials like 100% silk, cotton, or wool these days. Even at the most high end stores, most clothing contains polymide blended in with the natural fabrics. Polymide is plastic people!

Guitars: Functional Wall Art

For beautifully, handmade custom guitars check out Lame Horse Instruments. They design and make acoustic, wooden guitars and ukuleles. Making guitars is an art form and like any other art should be displayed beautifully. How you wall mount your guitar(s) is important for the guitars safety as well as aesthetics. I would do a simple, hidden wall mount to highlight the guitar.
